It’s fun and games at Fubar on Friday as Maovember warms up for another busy weekend. Try your luck at card matching (rmb10), drinking roulette (rmb10) or a draw (rmb20 per ticket) for a bottle of Glenfiddich 12-year-old whisky. You can also help Maovember raise money by purchasing a Hendrick’s Gin Tonic or a beer. Plus enjoy 80s tunes from DJ Peter Stone.
November 12 | 7 PM til late | The Tiki Bungalow
The Tiki Bungalow returns with another Maovember night of tasty shots, funky tunes tunes and getting lei’d. Get a Pina Colada, a Hellfire or a Bacard Oakheart spiced rum shot for rmb20 each, all proceeds to Maovember. November 15 | Beer Mania
Fresh off a charity liar’s dice tournament, Beer Mania is back with a truly good prize as it celebrates King’s Day with Belgians in Beijing. Show up and you can win your weight in beer! Tickets are rmb30, or four for rmb100, and each one gives you a chance to for to 120 kilograms of Omer Belgian Beer. Plus, rmb10 from each beer sold will go to Maovember. And you can donate to Thierry de Dobbeleer’s Shave / No Shave contest: take a look at his epic beard, decide if you want him to keep it or cut it, and then donate money to the corresponding jar.
First, they held a Funk Fever mustache bash. Then they did an afternoon of porron and pouring. Now Migas is teaming up with The Foxes Rock craft beer for The Ping Pong Social Club. This fun game involves a ping pong table, a big group of people and a lot of fun. Play in the charity rounds for rmb50 and win prizes. Plus half of all the booze sales also go to Maovember, with draft beer at rmb25 per glass.
November 17 | Jing-A Taproom
Jing-A will launch a Yunnan Coffee Imperial Stout, made with coffee from charity partner Good Works. Word is there will also be some fun and games. Details to come. Here is some Maovember Jing-A action from 2015:
November 18 | 8 PM | Paddy O’Shea’s
Paddy O’Shea’s returns for the official closing-but-not-really-closing weekend for Maovember. (We expect a few later events.) There’ll be an open mic night, a contest for best mustache, darts games for rmb30, and picklebacks and coffee shots for rmb25, with all funds to charity. If it’s anything like last year, this one will be a blast!

Spot one of the company’s couriers with a pin and that means you can get one on the spot for rmb50. Now, even if you can’t make it to one of our events, you can still get your 2016 pin! November 26 | Pop-Up Beijing
Call it the hair of the dog, or the flea, as Pop-Up Beijing will hold a late Maovember flea market to help support this year’s cause. More details soon.
October 14 | 2 PM til late | XL Restaurant & Bar
Maovember officially kicks off with the launch of the 2016 pin as well as picklebacks and special Maovember shots by manager Jane Cui for 30 yuan and darts and drinks games with Groovy Schiller’s Jack Zhou and Paddy O’Shea’s Paul Rochon for 30 yuan. October 15-16 | Beijinger Pizza Cup
This annual event by magazine The Beijinger brings two dozen pizza joints—plus wine, beer and other suppliers—together for a weekend of fun at Wangjing SOHO. This year’s event will include a Maovember table. Get your 2016 pin, try on a fake mustache and play corn toss!

The entry fee is a 100-kuai donation to Maovember and gets each player three rounds of dice plus 1.5 liters of Grisette beer. Plus you get to see a guy with a really cool beard. One of the city’s top sports bars returns with its third annual Maovember quiz. Expect rounds themed on Maovember (mustaches) and this year’s charity partners Good Works (coffee) and Library Project (books). More details soon!

Vive le difference! It’s the same theme but a new lineup as Cafe de la Poste returns with a blind tasting of French and Chinese wines. Think you can tell the difference between the two? Or just want to enjoy fine vino and fellowship? Then head to this Beixinqiao restaurant for what promises to be a fun event. The tasting is rmb100, with all proceeds to Maovember. Join craft brew providers from around the country as they hold jointly MaovemBEER fundraisers. Partners Boxing Cat from Shanghai, WE Brewery from Tianjin, Shangri-La from Yunnan, Myth Monkey from Wuhu along with Arrow Factory, Dirty Duck Pub, Great Leap, Panda and Slow Boat from Beijing will donate rmb10 to rmb12 from each beer sold to Library Project and Good Works. Mystery Wine Party returns with niche suppliers 1421, Australian Natural, Grape Wall of China, La Cava, Le Sommelier International, Lewine, Pasion, Ponty and Seina donating a total of 50 wines from around the world. Each wine (priced rmb120 to rmb800) will be gift-wrapped and sold at Q Bar for a mere rmb100! Baozi-pizza specialists Baozza will sell 100 of their treats at rmb10 each. And the Wine Flights paper airplane contest will be held again. All funds from the wine, baozza and the paper airplane contest go to charity.
